Webflow hosting: why I use it and what to expect

When you build a website in Webflow, you have two options: either export it and host it elsewhere (which only works for static content), or use Webflow hosting directly. And that hosting is, in my view, one of the reasons this platform is so far ahead of the competition.

Hosting you never have to touch

Webflow hosting is hands-off. That means: no FTP, no WordPress updates, no plugin maintenance, no worries. You hit Publish and you are done. The site runs on global infrastructure, uses a CDN (Content Delivery Network), is secured with an HTTPS certificate and gets backed up automatically.

In short: everything you would normally handle manually elsewhere just works here on its own.

What is the best part?

For me, there are three main benefits:

  • Speed: Sites run extremely fast, whether someone views them from Prague or from Canada.
  • Security: HTTPS is a given, and so are backups and protection against common attacks.
  • Reliability: In all the time I have been using Webflow, not a single site has gone down. Not once.

On top of that, domain management takes just a few clicks – Webflow handles DNS records well, and SSL activates automatically.

But yes, it has its limits

It is fair to say it is not for everyone. Webflow hosting has its boundaries:

  • Each plan has a limited number of CMS items – a large magazine site can hit the ceiling.
  • You cannot install any plugins or backend scripts.
  • And once you use the CMS or e-commerce, you can no longer export the site. It is simply tied to Webflow.

For most typical business websites, though, that does not matter. On the contrary – the fact that there is nothing to maintain is exactly the advantage for a lot of people.

Webflow vs. other hosting providers

I have used traditional hosting providers too (Wedos, Forpsi, WP Engine, …), but they always meant management, tweaking and bug hunting. Webflow is different – here you get everything in one package. It is not as flexible as your own server, but that is not the point.

Need cron jobs, Laravel or a custom API? Then this is not for you. But if you want to design and ship websites quickly without worrying about infrastructure, Webflow will not let you down.

Summary

If what you care about is a website that simply works – fast, secure, maintenance-free – Webflow hosting is an excellent choice. I use it on practically every project I build in Webflow, whether it is a personal portfolio, a company website or a client microsite.

And best of all – when something needs changing, you do not have to call an admin. You open the Webflow Designer, hit publish… and it is live.
